4 stars I have always liked deep purple a considerable amount, but not nearly as much as the greats of the era. Their albums in the 70's had lots of interesting stuff, but this live album appeals to me almost as much as 'seconds out' does in the respect of a live album of the 70's that captures a bands true form. The energy is by far at its' greatest, and blackmore shreds wonderfully. Even the 'rondo-ish' take on space truckin is a delight, comparable to e.l.p.'s 'rondo.' I was never a huge fan of smoke on the water, but this is played very well live. Highway star and child in time are definite high-points and fav's of mine. The album in general can be a consider when speaking of the greatest live albums of all time, its probably not top 5, but it's way up there. If ever seen in a store grab it for sure! 4 stars
