The special anniversary edition of Orchestral Favorites adds on to the original album a full concert recording of the second of the three performances the album was drawn from. The full live show, with extensive explanations from Zappa, offers a broader variety of works than the album does, including pieces like Rollo where Zappa accompanies the orchestral on guitar. This reveals new dimensions to the recording which may assist in the appreciation of the album proper. All this adds up to a significantly improved package over prior issues of the album and a worthwhile listen for anyone who enjoys Zappa's orchestral works, though if you'd prefer more rock guitar and smutty lyrics this ain't the Zappa you're looking for.
