5 stars .....Cool....This album has a whole story. Back in 1968, The Beatles were kinda bored, and they didn't know what da hell to record. Suddenley, thought that they should write new songs and perform them live, so they would have a live album with new songs. After having a lot of problems, fights between band members, and stuff (George left the band, at one point. But they, later, convinced him to finish the record), they finally did the live concert. This was no ordinary concert. It was done on the rooftop of the building were the recording studio was! So this album contains songs which were recorded in studio, while rehersing for the "concert", and some recorded at the "ROOFTOP CONCERT", during January, 1969. That's why you can sometimes hear the band members talking. This songs were mostly played live. Some orchestral arrangements were later overdubbed on some songs, in 1970. The opener, TWO OF US, is a cool song, with cool acustic guitars, vocals by John and Paul, and a cool rithm section. Dig a Pony: This was probably recorded during a rehersal, you can hear the guys talking before the song starts, and .....well, it sounds like a rehersal. The song is really cool. Cool electric guitars, electric piano, and vocals by John. The bass and drums do a good job keeping the rithm. Across the Universe: This is really an outtake from YELLOW SUBMARINE, recorded in 1968. Some percussion and orchestra were added in 1970. The song features a really amazing acustic guitar, and vocals by John, again. I me mine: This is a cool song by George. Unfortunatley, John is not present in this track. Guitars(Acustic & electric) and vocals by George sound really cool, bass and backing vocals by Paul sound also very cool as well as drums by Ringo and organ by BILLY PRESTON. It starts being a soft hippie-like song with the verses, and then it bursts out into rock & roll with the chorus: I..I... ME ME MINE!!!!!! A rocker! Dig it: this one is a funny song of 49 seconds wich featurs a cool acustic guitar, loud piano playing, bass drums and organ, repeating the same harmony over and over again, while John sings:" Like a rolling stone!.....like the F.B.I" Let it be: Well, everyone knows this song. Paul's vocals and piano sound terrific, John's bass and ringo's drums soun cool, Billy Preston's organ soun really good, and George's guitar solo is MIND-BLOWING. One of the best songs on this album. No doubt why the album is called the same way as this song. It's just really cool. Maggie Mae: Another short funny song. It sounds like country music. I've got a feeling: Simply rocking! Electric guitars and vocals by paul are just rocking! One after 909: Another rocking song!! cool! The Long and winding road: Very good ballad by Paul. Cool orchestra and piano. A Classic! For you Blue: A cool blues by George. I like the slide-guitar solo. Get Back: A hit! Really rock & roll! Recorded at the rooftop concert! a great closer! Ok, that's it ! Highly recomended!!!!!!!!! I can't write anymore cos I've gotta go now!!!!
