3 stars An interesting debut, with some great tracks and some pretentious nonsense. It's mostly inventive, progressive stuff and has much to recommend it... but the next nine albums would be better. Cellos scrape through almost every track; the songwriting credits make it clear that Lynne's ego was kept quite seperate from Wood's ego; and you'd be forgiven for thinking that it was really just a 'Move' side-project with 3 people pretending they're an orchestra by playing a few violins. If it wasn't so brilliant, that would really upset me. As it is, it doesn't. It's a good album if you like your rock music dated and weird. The follow-up, of course, would be outstanding...
