4 stars This is real true concept progressive folk-rock album with a strong flamenco influences - full of energy and whimsical at the same time, with a lot of breath-catching moments all over the album. I believe the album is kind of underated because it was shadowed by its recognized brilliant predecessor "Fandangos in Space". In fact "Dancing on a Cold WInd" is a further proper development of those progressive ideas from the first album though. The album's beauty will grow in you with every next listening. A general comparisons with Triana, Jethro Tull and early Genesis (theatrical atmosphere) may have place, but Carmen has their own distinct trademark sound which creates very specific dramatic feelings. The album basically has no flaws in terms of song writing - all pieces are very crafted especially "Remembrances" (which takes the entire Side 2 of the original LP), it just have some instrumental technique limitations that one may notice (that's why I am not giving my highest rating for this album), someone may not agree with me though. All in all this is terrific album that will please many progheads. Recommended for fans of groups such as Triana, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Ange, Strawbs, Magna Carta. Progressively yours Alexander Kratenko, Ukraine.
