3 stars This album isn't truly prog in the Gentle Giant sense, but I do believe that it is still prog music even though it is anti-progressive in relation to the rest of Gentle Giant's music. It is true that anything after Interview is probably for collectors only but I still think that this is a great album! If this album was to be made by any other band, I would give it 4 stars. I think people tend to underrate it just because it is Gentle Giant which is held to such a high standard. Even though the songs are cheery and sort of lame, they're lame in a Gentle Giant sort of way which is pretty awesome! And who cares that "words from the wise" sounds like a theme song to an 80s family sitcom, it's still great! Even though the emphasis is definitely on catchy tunes which I do believe they succeed in doing, there's some great vocal and instrumental work to be found. If you are a hardcore Gentle Giant fan who HAS to have all their albums like me, I think that this album is essential, but only if you are open to pop/80s music and the fact that Gentle Giant completely sold out. Some of the tracks on here are semi-proggy though like words from the wise and Spooky Boogie, and Rock Climber really rocks! If you worship Gentle Giant like I do, don't hesitate to buy this album!
