4 stars The first with David Gilmour. After "Piper At the Gates of Dawn" Syd was not functioning well. So they called in an old friend, David. This album shows a new direction they were wanting to move to. Syd's songs were much more fantasy like songs. Roger on the other hand was wanting to make things abit more complex than that. The opening song "Let There be More Light" is a trippy song, but the music and lyrics add up to make a very good song.

1. Let There be More Light, Rating: 8/10 2. Remember a Day, Richard Wright has alot of vocals on this album. He sings on the opening track as well. It's a nice, friendly song. Rating: 7/10 3. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Roger Waters' first true great song. This is my favorite track of the album. It's psychedelic, but still there's a progressive sound to it as well. Rating: 10/10 4. Corporal Clegg, This is a very strange song, but it's one of my favorites. David and Rick sing, but Nick finally has a couple of lines in this song to sing. This track also has a gazoo solo in it. Rating: 9/10 5. A Saucerful of Secrets, This is the big one. It's filled with wild sounds with cymbals and guitar effects. It's a lengthy instrumental that ends with a great choir vocals. Rating: 10/10 6. See Saw, Richard does another friendly tune, but this one is not quite as good. It's a good song, but this is just not one that stands out above the others. Rating: 5/10 7. Jugband Blues, Syd finally comes to sing. This is his last song for Pink Floyd. I know after this album was made some of the band members helped Syd with his solo work. This is a very interesting song. It has a brass section in the middle to close to the end. Rating: 7/10

On the Pompeii dvd, there is a great performance of "A Saucerful of Secrets" which to me is even better than the studio version. There is also a great performace of "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" on the same dvd. Over all rating for the album 4 stars.
