4 stars Light as a Feather ? 1972 (3.8/5) 12 ? Best Song: Spain

Can a man be blamed for hopping atop a grand piano and shouting 'vocal maturation'? I don't know where they got a singer like this, but Flora Pinum is from the Billie Holiday school in the best possible manner. There's also a larger focus on shorter song structures which will no doubt please the fair weather fans. They've also taken the sheen of the debut and given it a spellbinding envisioning. Taken as it is, Light as a Feather plays as the direct sequel to their first outing. It has all the remaining positives, while improving upon the faults. It's honest to goodness progression, if even slightly.

Don't expect any radical changes in musical sound, though. It's still the same old flute/keyboard jam session (what a crazy combination, right?). I can't dock them too many originality points on that one. 'You're Everything' has a sugary sweet romantic air to it, but the big showcase is the extended fluid rocker 'Spain', which acts as a concise, more appropriately fashioned Sometime Ago. I do love the man's keyboard tone, which is unnaturally alluring in a very naïve and warm manner. It's what sets 'Children Song' apart from the rest. It's a clock-oriented little lullaby which is far too disconcerting for actual children listening to it. I can't say I'm too impressed. It IS the same game as before. But it's a real interesting game, that.
