3 stars Syd Barrett left the band during this record's early recordings and was replaced by David Gilmour, leaving the new incarnation of the group to finish it off. This one takes me right back to my youth. I listened to it many years before I'd heard all of "Piper At The Gates of Dawn".

I love Richard Wright's "Remember a Day". Great lyrics about the wonder of a child's mind. Another favourite is "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun". A longer rendtion of this was played on live at Pompei and a different version of the eleven-and-a-half-minute instrumental opus "A Saucerful of Secrets" also featured on the same live set. These early recordings should be in a Pink Floyd collection.

"Corporal Clegg" is a likeable song showing the band didn't always take themselves seriously and Wright's "See-Saw" is a lovely floating, dreamy song too. Barrett's "Jugband Blues" provided a nice closer. This is a good little album for your collection. 3.5 stars.
