4 stars First classic Eloy album starts with Dawn. While some may argue, that the music is a bit sleepy at times and there isn't that much happening, comparing to the usual progressive rock, I believe there is enough to admire - the sound,

arrangements, tight playing and a feeling of balance. The first couple of tracks are short and thus provide a good variety of styles: hard-rock, symphonic overture, mellow space rock.

On "Memory-flash" the guitar finally turns down to feature organ/synths - despite this I'm put off by the mediocre vocals that should have been trimmed in their usage to feature instruments instead.

"Appearance of the voice" tackles this problem in a satisfactory way in that the voice is put lower in the mix than the organ and Moog. "Return of the voice" brings the keyboards in all glory without being flashy.

The longest track on the album finds the band return partly to their old dynamic rocking sound and rely more on the Hammond organ. The last 7 minutes belong to an instrumental track with a keyboard atmosphere.
