5 stars Dream Theater - Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence

A double CD masterpiece. A record that would encapsulates the sound of progressive metal for the next decade. After their masterpiece Metropolis Pt. II, the band went further beyond by increasing the song length while maintaining the same high-quality of progressive metal.

The album has six proper tracks, with the last one being a 42-Minute suite that takes on mental divergences. It's clear that the band wanted to take a far more bombastic approach with the record, considering how heavy and fast paced most of the songs are.

Both sides have some of their finest works to date. Side one has the energetic The Glass Prison and the intense, Tool-inspired The Great Debate. The second side on the other hand, has the dynamic and beautiful About To Crash, the technicality festival The Test That Stumped Them All and the happy and moody Solsbury Hill-inspired Solitary Shell.

The album is quite hard to take on one sitting, due to the fact that it's more than twice as long as the average album, so I highly recommend listening to each side separately. This record is for sure their mammoth work in terms of the amount of content that it possesses, and it will for sure satisfy anyone who enjoys progressive rock or metal.

It's a five star album for me.
