4 stars Part one of the what I call double album by Opeth, Deliverance. Deliverance has to be the most death metal sounding record by Opeth. I know was their jam back then, all the way up until Watershed but on here, it's exaggerated. That was the whole idea behind Deliverance and Damnation, having one be heavier than a black hole, and having one that's more progressive rock centered, essentially showing the two sides of the band, which they pulled off well.

Deliverance has some softer parts but not nearly as many as the bands other albums; this album is straight up death metal. I like death metal so I had a lot of enjoyment while listening, I also like Opeth, too.

This is really the Opeth album for the death metal fan but a lot of Opeth fans are probably already death metal. I really like this album, and you should too. Listen to it, you won't regret it. It's a solid release by Opeth. Defend death metal!
