This album is indeed a fusion album, but not traditional fusion in the meaning a fusion
between rock and jazz.This album is a fusion between funk, disco, soul, calypso, swing, jazz, classical music and some rock. There is not much rock here though. But it is as close to a Canterbury Scene album as this band or any other fusion bands, bar Soft Machine, can ever come. Welcome to pure madness. This album sometimes works. But sometimes, it does not work at all. Some of the songs falls to the ground. Some others like the opening track and the closing track are excellent. Inbetween, we get everything and nothing at the same time. But my main impression is that it is a very good album. It does not have the drive and the intensity as I expect from a fusion album. It sometimes stands still and admire itselves. The meditation pieces here falls down to earth. Which is a pity. But this is still a great album and recommended. But it is not the best Mahavishnu Orchestra/Project album. But check this out anyway. 3.5 stars
