4 stars This is another strong effort from the band. Their first album (Enter) has received more attention and it is heavier overall. This second album is slightly more hypnotic in my opinion (in a good way!). It still ramps up to Power Post-Rock in places. Russian Circles sound somewhat similar to Isis, Pelican or Red Sparowes. You could even argue that they belong in the Post Metal category as opposed to the Post-Rock category. So if you enjoy louder Post- Rock this band is definitely worth looking into, although you might want to start with 'Enter'. Oh yeah.... They are from Chicago....not Russia!
