5 stars Wooooow! what a Canterbury gem, this album have been a favorite of mine for some time now. Its an amazing mix of Jazz, Avant garde and symphonic prog. And it got Dave Stewart one of my favorite fuzzed up Hammond organ player. The album kicks off with the amazing A visit to Newport Hospital that opens with an superb heavy organ riff before goin into softer more melodic section with good singing from Mont Campbell, the song end with the same organ riff it started with simply brilliant one of my favorite egg songs. Contrasong is next and its a wierd litle pop tune with trumpets and stuff very good. Boilk is the heavy avant garde behlmont of the album goin torugh alot of diffrent wierd sounds and effects, very good if you like this type of music and i do. The album ends whit the suitible titled Long piece no. 3 a four part 20min long epic, that got avant garde, jazz and sweet Symphonic melodys, simply briliant, one of my favorite epics. I have to confes i have a very weak spot for canterbury bands, it might be my favorite style of prog, i simply love the sound thos old amazing bands hade. This is for me one of the best Canterbury albums toghter with Grey and pink, third and The rotters club. a masterpiece of progressive music and of the canterbury sound. Simply a must have album, no mather what style of prog your into this one got something for everyone and is full of nice surprises.
