5 stars This was my second Hawkwind album the first was In search of space and to be honest i was and still is a bit let down by that albums i had heard it was suposed to be one of thiere best i think the singing and song writing on it was a bit poor but thne bought this one and Woooooooow! what a change i dont know for sure but it must be becaus of Lemmy and the drummer Simon King joning becuas this one have much beter songs and rock so much harder great droning long spacerocking songs Starting of with Brainstorm and when i first heard it i was thinking "what! i have heard this one before" but culdent remeber where then i remebered Monster magnet hade it on thiere Superjudge album i dident even know it was a cover, but i have to say the orginal hawkwind one is actualy beter it rocks hard nice proto-heavy metal sound its hypnotic it feels much shorter then its 11min. Next comes Space is deep starting as a nice acustic song then in comes an amazing hardrocking groov realy cool then it goes back to the acustic. One change is a short piano piece that whuld have made Emerson proud or meby not, its nothing special like an litle interlude between the 2 big monster songs, Lord of lighht starts with wierd noises before it goes in to heavy rocking mode i dont realy know whos the singer on this album to be honest but i think its Lemmy whoever hes much beter then the one on the album before this one and this song have some great shouting vocals. Next song is Down trough the night a sweet litle acustic rocker very good acustic riff and the vocals are once again simply amazing very catchy song, Time we left this world today was the first song that became a favorite from the album that riff and his way of singing toghter with it yust like Ozzy did on every Sabbath album is simpyl imposible to resist it gets in your head and stay there it starts by repating the riff over and over and later a bit in it comes a cool psycadelic groove and stuff very nice. The album ends with a another acustic balladish song my least favorite on the album not bad but compered to the rest its a bit boring. the 1996 remastered CD editon have 4 very good bonus tracks Urban Guerilla wich was a singel that folloowed up the hugh succes of Silver Machine, its a very catchy punk smelling rocker that shuld have been a hit but i dont think it did as well as silver machine. Brainbox pollution love the bass riff on this one and nice sax playing by Turner who you most of the time cant hear on the other songs caus hes drowned in the havy guitar and bass riffing, very good song. Next is a singel version of Lord of light not much to say about that, and Ejection finish of the bonus material and the album in a nice way more hard rocking greatness and once again you can heard the cool sax wich fit the music very good. This album is very close to full rating if i hade 1/10 rating i whuld give it a 9 if you like your prog heavy this is a must.
