4 stars I discovered this wonderful band with their huge hit "Creep"... And when I heard this album for the first time in 1996, I was surprised by the quality of all the songs (music + lyrics).

Basically, Radiohaed's first progressive album is "Ok Computer", but The Bends is a necessary step that lead them from grunge (Pablo Honey) to progressive music (OK Computer)

This album, of course, contains very few progressive elements, even if a track like 'My Iron Lung' could be almost considered as a progressive track. This is just an excellent pop/rock album, maybe the best album of the year 1995. There is no weak songs in this album: rock tracks like "The Bends", "Bones" or "Just" are excellent. Ballads like "Street Spirit" or "High and Dry" are great songs as well. The best track of this album is certainly "My Iron Lung", with its change of rythms (like in "Paranoid Android" from the next album OK Computer)

This album deserves obviously more than 4 stars, but it is not a progressive album, so I cannot rate it 5 stars.
