4 stars This album has grown on me a great deal since it's release. It's easy listening compared to most of Devins other work, Ghost excluded of course, and at first it was just a bit too easy easy listening. But it clicks, and while it is far from perfect, some of these songs are just too nice to hear to put this album down as much as I might like to when pitted up against some of Devins other work. Grace, Angel and the revamp of Kingdom were the standouts for me on first hearing, three incredibly good songs. Everything else sounded so formulated, almost like praise and worship music. As horrible as that sounds, it works, the songs are simple, and structured in the typical verse chorus verse routine. After being on a Devin Townsed kick and listening to the challenging albums like Terria and Synchestra, Epicloud is a welcome break, and at least, something truly unique to what Devin has done in the past, on top of the great songs Grace, Angel, and Kingdom, Save Our Now, Hold On, Divine, Lucky Animals, Libration, all very good tracks, strong album from start to finish, and something to pick up if you wanna hear a different side of Devin Townsend.
