3 stars A five piece from NYC we get a vocal dominated style of funk here that drifts into the avant, jazz, punk, metal and rap. The sounds of the street and this really is a live band first and foremost. They have released an album every ten years, so we are due soon(haha). This self-titled debut is from 1995 and "yikes" about the band's name and the cover art, but they have a sense of humour. Some mention PRIMUS in relation to their sound.

The vocals really are all over this. And yes he can sing, I'm just not into his style. The instrumental work is incredible. "Blue In Green" that fifth track is the first one I really liked although I'm not big on the reggae vibe. Some power and crazy vocals too, so you can see what I'm up against here. I do like the guitar on "Smile In A Wave(Theme From Jack Johnson)" as well as the track "Kermes Macabre" where the final two minutes of this eight minute track just kill.

I totally get that this band has it's fans but this isn't for me. A case of me not doing my homework.
