Czajkowski - Minnemann biography
In 2007, when Hectic Watermelon was added to ProgArchives, John Czajkowski had already announced a cooperation with Marco Minnemann, based on composing an album around a pre-existing 52-minute drum track, called Normalizer Pt. 2. After three years, the results finally arrived in the form of the album West ZooOpolis.
The album is very much NOT comparable to Hectic Watermelon, but does show the individual styles of super drummer Minnemann and 21st century jazz rock virtuoso Czajkowski.
The additionally nice, but slightly expensive, side of the story behind this album is that other muscians are also releasing albums based on the same drum track. At the time of release of West ZooOpolis, Marco Minnemann had already released his own Normalize Pt. 2 album, and Trey Gunn had released Modulator. Albums by Alex Machacek, Mike Keneally, Phi Yaan-Zek and Mario Brinkman will follow shortly. An experiment akin to the release of In the Court of the Crimson King, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and The Wall, but unfortunately much less noticed in modern times than it would've been in the 1970's.
