4 stars TRI-OFFENSIVE are a trio of bass, drums and guitar out of Japan and if your calling your band TRI-OFFENSIVE you know there's going to be some heaviness. The bassist and drummer are veterans of the Japanese music scene while the guitarist is the young gun. The music is complex yet they keep this baby warm thankfully and there is some variety. There's a nice balance actually between the heavy and lighter passages. We get eleven songs over 58 plus minutes. This was released in 2009, their only album so far. Interesting to see a song titled "Parallel World" considering they are from Japan, can't help but think of FAR EAST FAMILY BAND. Not that that song sounds anything like that Psychedelic band.

Top three would include the opener "Fate Of The Azure" with that opening picked guitar that echoes. Bass and drums kick in quickly though and the guitar style changes. Such a warm and moving section a minute in then it turns heavy. Contrasts continue and check out the guitar lighting it up around 4 minutes in. The song smack dab in the middle "Particle In The Planet" might be my favourite. It hits the ground running but settles quickly but outbursts of power continue. Bass only after a minute then the guitar kicks in making noise. So cool. The closer "Holy Calling" rounds out my top three. Love that rhythm section bringing to mind some Metal bands as the guitar solos over top. Nice guitar work after 2 minutes then some intensity at 3 1/2 minutes but then it settles again.

A really impressive album. Players!

4 stars Tri - Offensive - is one of the most intresting power trios I've ever heared. They are from Japan and is conducted by the young talented guitarist Yuya Komoguchi. The band was formed in 2007 and since now they've released one album in 2009 selftitled. What a great debut this is, really fantastic, both composing and skills are more then awesome on entire album. The guitar parts are impressive, Yuya Komoguchi remind me in many parts with Steve Howe from Yes, or with let's say Kenso, the album is highly energic , jazz fusion with a clear progressive direction, each instrument shining not else. 11 instrumental pieces, one better then other with nice catchy riffs and solos. I really liked this one very much, is quite a treasure of the genre, little known world wide. For fans of the genre, this is recommended for sure, one of the better examles how must sound a progressive/ jazz fusion album these days. From me 4 stars easy. Great and damn catchy.

5 stars Highly composed, somewhat jazz-influenced "fusion rock". I would be loathe to use the common "jazz fusion" or "jazz rock" as many often do with this sort of music, but it just isn't accurate.

Do you like Kenso? Do you like hard rock? You simply must, must listen to this album as soon as possible. TRI-Offensive are one of those rare bands that combine multiple-part pieces, with many time signature changes, LOTS of memorable guitar riffs, and surprisingly little jamming. Again, Kenso, basically. It would be quite difficult to pick any standout tracks, there's 11 of them and they're practically all heavy rockers with multiple parts and guitar riffs spilling out in all directions. Essential for any King Crimson fan, too. Or if you enjoyed Koyry-Kone's second album.

5 stars OMG!!!FABULOUS!...What else can be said after the wonderful review of KAZUHIRO,which says everything about this sensational masterpiece!?!?! t!It's a sensational fusion album,a true bomb of the genre and this proves the fact that from the sun of the rising sun comes the most amazing fusion music, made by fantastic musicians! This album is one of the most spectacular and impressive fusion album in years and shows the endless inspiration of Japanese musicians to be impressive and efficient!I can compare this album with n\o matter what PLANET X album and the play of the amazing guitar player YOYA KOMOGUCHI with BRETT GARSED style especially or JOHN SCOFIELD combined with GREG HOWE too-in an agressive style !The diversity of the album is impressive, each song has it's own identity and we must mention that the other 2 musicians in the band are respected and impressive musicians from Japan-they came from great fusion prog bands like KENSO and PRISM-true icons in their country! So,it's some kind of super group here and the final result exceeds even the most pretentious expectations!A fabulous album under all aspects,I can say a future classic and, definitely an ear candy for the die hard fusion fans, which will be 200 % satisfied by this pure milestone material!5 STARS and that's all!

4 stars The player concerning the activity of music often finds the agreement and the possibility of the music character and enables the expression. The exchange by the musician and the chemical reaction in harmony often happen in all genres.

Music that adopts one method as an expression of each genre that happens without asking each country is here. There is a part where the possibility and the technical breakthrough of the band that derived in the diversity that spreads by Jazz/Fusion of Japan after the especially 90's improve with following past music.

The part of Jazz Rock that Japan sends might be off-the-beaten-path in foreign countries. However, the music character in technical respect of each genre including Jazz Rock might rise gradually in recent years.

In the item of Jazz/Fusion that existed indeed in Japan, this band formed in the flow became one chemical reaction. There might be respect where the musician's superlative degree influence known in the world and the absorption of the idea are reminiscent if Jazz/Fusion in recent years is seen from the viewpoint from Japan of course. The band has succeeded without staying in simple Jazz Rock complete ensemble, a complex melody, and the rhythm in construction.

Time when this Trio was formed goes back to 2007. Drum player's Keisuke Komori did the session with guitar player's Isao Takahashi. Isao Takahashi is a guitar player active in Los Angeles. The person who had been visiting the place was Yuya Komoguchi. And, Keisuke Komori irregularly sponsored the session. Bass player's Jiro Okada is called there. It is said that Keisuke Komori that felt the possibility of Trio by these three people moved for the formation of this new Trio.

Drum player's Keisuke Komori acted with the exchange already with various musicians. And, it was work of "Kenso" that decided his eminence. Bass player's Jiro Okada participates in the band that is called "Prism" known in Japan. Or, there is an exchange with "Kiyomi Otaka", too. Guitar player's Yuya Komoguchi is a very promising musician. He who was only 19 years old is a guitar player who has the element of Scott Henderson and Mike Stern. Or, there is a part where Greg Howe is reminiscent, too.

If the music character of this band is considered as a remark of the member, they say that they advanced with "Power to overturn the concept as guitar Trio". Or, it tried to avoid the interference with various genres and the music characters and to pursue the possibility as Trio. The overall impression of this album is exactly technical respect and respect of their greetings. And, music that gropes for the shape of new Trio and expresses it to its maximum is carried out.

"Fate Of The Azure" develops complete ensemble and an aggressive melody from the start of the tune. It puts on the rhythm of seven rhythms and the band listens to complete ensemble. Twining of aggressive Riff and the rhythm of the guitar might be splendid. Part where complex rhythm and The Irregular Meter were multiused. And, it is partial of Solo of Bass that doesn't deteriorate quality. The shift of Solo of the guitar that explodes completely there might be splendid. It is possible to listen to complete ensemble by the band exactly.

"Mirv" might succeed as complete Hard Fusion. Part of Riff of straight rhythm and aggressive guitar. And, the sound of the guitar that effectively multiuses the effect. Flow of repetition of each theme that pushes part of Hard Fusion out forward. The tune shifts from the part to the rhythm of fast Half Time Shuffle. Polyrhythm often multiused is effective.

As for "Neo Universe", the rhythm to emphasize Groove twines round the melody of the guitar that produces the anacatesthesia. Repetition of line of Bass and part of ensemble. And, the feature busy of Polyrhythm and an intermittent melody.

"Revelation In A Dream" is a tune that can be satisfied enough of the capability and width as the band. Melody with expression of feelings. And, it is partial of the unison of the sound of Solo of Bass and the decoration. The element of the ballade that flows overall has a good sense of relief. Solo of the guitar might be good in the composition of the tune each other. The performance of Trio to express as a ballade that gives a grand impression develops a good flow.

In "Parallel World", the part of The Irregular Beat that develops in fast Passage is a feature. Repeated line of Bass and sound of decoration. Repetition of seven rhythms and eight rhythms. And, it is partial of Solo of complete Bass. Complex melody and rhythm intermittently repeated. Or, it is partial of Solo of Drum that moves freely from the flow. The tune progresses showing all respects one after another while giving development to introduce the shuffle.

As for "Particle In The Planet", a complex melody appears to the rhythm that multiuses seven rhythms one after another. Especially, construction and ensemble of the melody in close relation to The Irregular Beat and Polyrhythm give a tension and a city impression. Flow that gives part of Groove in close relation to the flow. And, the interests of the music characters of men who advocate it as shape of new Jazz Rock might be very deep. The construction of the melody with originality has the possibility of Trio enough.

The part of "Another One" where it dared to arrange tone quality in the interior is effective. The performance with an anacatesthesia and a transparent feeling is gradually returned based on tone quality. Melody of anacatesthesia in close relation to Groove. And, the melody of Bass and the progress of the tune might advocate the shape of new Jazz/Fusion.

As for "Invisible Ray", the guitar twines round the rhythm mainly composed of Polyrhythm with the sense of relief of Bass. It will rush into the part that shifts to the flow that Hard Rock fuses with Jazz/Fusion before long. Or, the composition of the tune in close relation to the complexity gives a good tension while showing various respects by each musical instrument. The composition is very complex. There is shape of Hard Fusion new here.

"War Of Nerves" makes Jazz Rock exist together to complex original development in elements of a few Funk. The element of an introduction of Jazz Beat and straight Rock has been taken. However, the tune might consistently have a complex element. The composition is a part for them.

"Microburst" multiuses six rhythms and seven rhythms. The melody and the unison in close relation to there might be splendid. The composition that develops intermittently while piling up Chord of an acoustic guitar can be improved. The continuousness of Solo and Polyrhythm of Bass that appears at once is complete.

"Holy Calling" has the flavor of straight Rock. The sense of relief of the band might be expressed well. Progress and the sense of relief of original Chord that is are splendid. And, the tune introduces intense Riff on the way. This idea will give the listener the impression of the tune as an original part. The sense of relief that will be visited before long tells the music character of the band enough.

The music characters of men who appeared as Jazz Rock/Fusion of having been sent by Japan new indeed pursue diversity and originality. The chemical reaction concerning the music that they did has surely expanded the possibility as guitar Trio.
