Hittar Cuesta biography
From the 2.800 m. of altitude of one of Earth's highest-located capital cities, Quito, in Ecuador, comes axe-master and 6-string wizard Hittar Cuesta, with a extremely virtuosic, technical display of guitar fireworks and a strongly melodic brand of progressive-metal.

Hittar Cuesta, born Hitler Cuesta, moved to Cuenca, "the Athens of Ecuador", at the age of 19, to teach guitar-playing. Since that move, the Ibanez-wielding master started a quite successful music career. He first played with Rock-Pop group CRUCKS EN KARNAK, while keeping his love for true virtuosic metal on the side. With the mentioned band, he achieved some commercial success, though artistically, he still had to restrain himself due to the limitations of the genre.

It was in these years when he finally did what he always wanted to: he changed his name to HITTAR, thus achieveing two goals: one, leaving his ill-chosen birth name in the past, and two, having a powerful word that also serves as a description of the artist's favorite brush: his guitar.

After this successful collaboration with Ecuador's biggest commercial act, Hittar moved on to different areas: he first joined the metal band FALK, a stint that lasted just a short time. He ultimately decided to persue a solo career, where he could be absolutely free to explore the different, intriguing corners of his musical mind.

If he was already recognized as one of Ecuador's greatest guitar players before going solo, after the release of his first full-length, "El Lenguaje de los Espiritus" (The Language of the Spirits) in 2000, Hittar Cuesta was universally hailed as the nation's superior master of the instrument, gaining a following that only ensures that, whatever Hittar's next career move is, it will not only be paid special attention to, but it surely will be of the highest quality.

Among Hittar Cuesta's influences, the artist himself names a few in the booklet of his album: Joe Satriani, Steve VAi, Jimmy Hendrix, as well as Musical Masters as Nicolo Paganini, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. And his music shows it, being a perfect blend of rock, metal, progressive-metal, blues, jazz and classical music. Truly one of the great Southamerican country's most respected artists.

3 stars Hittar Cuesta is a guitarist born in Quito - Ecuador. With the years he manage to become one of the most respected musician from South America and this status is consolidate with their album released in summer of 2000 named Language of the spirits or in spanish El Lenguaje de los Espiritus is a good album overall. The music is clearly Satriani influenced (there is a piece called Lidian para Satriani), so obvious he is a follower of this great musician named Satriani, with nice arrangements, neoclassical aproach with a touch of progressive metal in places. The pieces are good all, not a weak moment, but as awhole is nothing grounbreaking, I mean the pieces are not so elaborated like on a real prog metal band, all the tracks are under 6 min. The guitar, of course has the main role, but also the keyboards, who are more in background did a good job and give a special atmosphere of the album. Something that has to be mentioned is, he is helped on drums by the great drummer Andrés V. Nardela from another progressive metal band from Ecuador - Viuda Negra ( a great band, at least the album La Voz de los Bosques from 2007 is a truly excellent work). Now, overall a good album for sure, some pieces are real great like Dimensiones or Danza de Almas, two excellent pieces that show Hittar Cuest must taken in consideration when we talking about prog metal and guitarist from South America. Because I'm the first reviewer of the album, I will fair and give 3 stars, nothing like masterpiece like other votant puted here, but good and enjoyble as a whole.
Thanks to The T for the artist addition.
