Laren d'Or biography
This keyboard player performs a synth-phony only based on keyboards. This music is a mixture of European contemporary classical and RIO. The construction, developments and movements are created by synthesisers. The result sounds sometimes solemn, at times dark, occasionally energetic and emphatic. This "War of Angels" can be compared to the electronic and symphonic pieces by GANDALF or TANGERINE DREAM.

4 stars Laren d'Or's aka Attila Hegers work would deserve some more attention. He earned a bit publicity around 2000 through mp3.com and occasionally broadcasts on progressive rock internet stations, but seems to fall into oblivion again lately.

From Hungary and originally a composer for computer games, his "War of Angels" - especially the "Synthphonic" part - has somthing to offer for listeners of Symphonic Prog.

These compositions are all well crafted, with strong themes, lots of dramatic changes and inner development. The background invokes an epic, metaphysical tale, bonded with effective samples of eerie birdcalls and sounds of medieval war, which adds a lot to the unique atmosphere. The flow of the music seems effortless and rich in inspirations, which keeps the music exciting from the beginning until the end, leaving the listener wishing for more. At least it that's what it does for me, I find this 40 minutes definitely too short.

The original record was published in Hungary only, and the "Syntphonic" compositions were mixed with the ones titled "Progressive". The latter were later expanded with new compositions and made an own album. I think that the separation was good especially for the compositions on "Syntphonic", since I don't appreciate the ( much less impressive) "Progressive" part too much. It often tends to sound like a remake of the themes for the techno charts, tho it has some moments too. I liked "Arkadia" best from the "Progressive" part, but on "Synthphonia" all compositions are good.

War of Angels "Synthphonia" is recommended for anyone who likes Quasi-Classical music or is into Classic Rock/Symphonic Prog. This is a well done, highly atmospheric gem, definitely an excellent addition for every collection.

Thanks to ProgLucky for the artist addition.
