Exodus to Infinity is the dramatic multi-genre recording project of Danny Mulligan. This self-produced one-man-band will take you on a heady journey filled with screaming guitar solos, eclectic arrangements, and a dizzying range of styles and emotions. Using elements of prog rock, metal, blues, jazz, rap, EDM, pop, and classical music, the debut album, Archetype Asylum, explores the depths of the psyche with the psychoanalytic tools of Jung, Freud, and Lacan. It is a story of loss and growth through encounters with archetypal projections of the unconscious, reconciling light and shadow, candor and jest, love and fear, and life and death.

Archetype Asylum (Exodus to Infinity's debut) is eclectic, and unsurprisingly, so is its creation story. It was patched together in Danny's home studio, surviving four moves, two years of grad school, and one hard drive crash. This labor of love took five years, thousands of hours, and just a little insanity. Brace yourself for one man's daring sonic experiment and enter the exodus.

2 stars Jesus Christ this is campy. Cheesy vocals with profanity, marimba tinkling and theatrical vocals a la musicals or tv show gag songs (like Bobs Burger when they burst into song? )

Track one basically establishes the albums sound, fast music with a lot of singing delivered in various ways, harmonies, guitar lead both acoustic and electric. It's, not great.

Track two opens with rapping and ripping guitar lines. It then bursts into clean metal vocals, then rhythm guitar work then vocals. There is then a talking tidbit about shadows (metaphor), pretty pretentious. Vocals come back along with guitar, then more talking stuff, which has nice singing over it that builds into a good violin finish. A good closer on this one does not save the whole track.

Track three opens with violin and then has more talking. It's like a movie but this is music so that's not good. Also the lyrics are so god damn insufferable.

Track four opens with a rocking' guitar line with some vocals over then a brief organ line with different singing. These two voices come together after. From there a guitar solo breaks loose over an organs gentle support. A calm Caribbean musical part follows with some vocal harmonies and electric guitar solo on top. A theatrical eighties guitar takes the reigns and more singing. The song then ends. Pretty mediocre more of the same.

Track five is guitar opening plus outdated for 2021 vocals (think 2010 emo) Other then that, the song is one of the better ones on the album, free from long winded monologues. This one is alright.

Track six opens with silly comedy record music from 1935. It then breaks into an acoustic guitar solo, then the same awful barbershop music. Normally I have no opinion on short songs but the ones on this album are just terrible, so offensive to the ear.

Track seven is good, I like this one, wish the album was all like this. Anyways yeah this one is catchy reminding me of Earth Wind And Fires best, except the percussion has a more modern feel then EWF. Pretty cool, not progressive rock though.

Track eight is the longest song clocking in at fourteen minutes. It starts with melancholic strings that are joined by a searing guitar line from eighties pop rock (Queen) . The vocals come in and have the same time stamp as the rest of the song, maybe at times being nineties alt rock. After this part piano interlude opens up for a lounge section a la that Copacabana guy. The previous vocals come back then an e piano interlude to seventies synth solo. Then more singing then different singing for a moment then back to the singing this song is chock full of. Finally a chill guitar section over e piano then singing which glitches out for an electronic section. The vocals return to that funky sound of track seven briefly then guitar solo. The song finally ends with violin. This song is okay, I wish the interludes were actual sections rather then just five second pieces to change guitar solo. Way to much guitar solos on this song, it could seriously use a trim of like four minutes.

Overall this is an okay debut and bad album. There is some ambition here and desire to be different that just fall on deaf ears for me. I like track seven and that's it. Both short songs I'd like to see vaporized, track eight/one/two cut to size and track three also removed.

Oof that brings the album down to 2.73 and now I feel like a dick.
