SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Honorary Collaborator / Band Submissions
4 stars Umlauts, well, something unusual for some of you out there, but concerning special character issues there's definitely more trouble available apart from this Germanic origin. That's still manageable, or what? In any case Bremen based vocalist and composer Heiko Überschär has chosen his transliterated family name as the official moniker. Okay, why not? Following the release of three EP's beforehand, now this is his full-sized debut album 'Flow Of Time', provided by the German Sireena Records label. That includes round about 70 minutes of melodic art and neo prog music, also featuring some leanings to heavier fields. But here and there serving the mainstream too, quite similar to Lighthouse Sparrows or Perfect Storm. Guitarist Axel Köhnken also acts as the main producer. The magnificent instrumental input is contributed by several seasoned musicians.

Where some of them are not necessarily assigned to the prog scene. But keyboarder Adam Holzman for sure, who might be the bestknown from all these collaborators. Frequently hired regarding uncounted studio and diverse live activities, for example by Miles Davis or Steven Wilson. Heiko's baritone singing voice is not that smooth really, has a throaty nuance, definitely respectable, pleasant anyhow. The instrumental counterpart is represented by a groovy rhythm section and a bunch of heavy guitar riffs, partially knocking at the metal realm. I would mark the touching Crime as the album's masterpiece, already available prior to the album release. The beauty and complex nature still convinces me much. The best choice when trying to promote the whole thing. Very good job, Heiko (and friends).
