4 stars This band is hailing from West Michigan, comprised of five musicians from different bands out of the local metal scene. Their sophomore album shows a slightly modified line up, as guitarist Ryan Cunningham recently was substituted by Doug Murray. ENTRANSIENT are offering a popular blend of prog metal and heavy rock, fortified with a strong melodic approach. I'm not an English speaking native, thus have less potential concerning concept issues. Anyhow, the dark mooded album image must be an important indication for the lyrical content. 'Divide And Conquer' - sounds like a contemporary motto in recent times, or what? 'Create The Enemy, Wage A War Upon The Villain That You Made'.

And so the excellent excerpt Weaker Hearts obviously serves an accusation, though not adressed to somebody especially, what I can see. Scott Martin provides a perfect singing voice, slightly rough, also somewhat grunge fitting. Eh, don't punish me for my subjective view, but it sounds somewhere between Chad Kroeger, Eddie Vedder and Gavin Rossdale. Agreed? What makes this really special are the top-notch songwriting skills, where Amber marks another impressing album highlight. I can hear some jolly good mellotron in between! Strong rhythm work and impressive guitar riffs, similar bands are Kingcrow, Karnivool coming to mind. A thrilling album.
