PROG REVIEWER
3 stars As the title implies, this offers the soundtrack to Roxy the Movie - the long-awaited video release of the footage shot by Zappa and the Mothers during their December 1973 residency at the Roxy (as documented originally on Roxy and Elsewhere). It's good stuff to be sure, but without the visual component you really aren't getting all that much here which you don't get in more exhaustive detail and in its original performance context on the expansive The Roxy Performances boxed set - and if you love the Roxy residency material enough that you want to explore it beyond Roxy & Elsewhere's offering, you'd be best advised to make that boxed set your first port of call for the audio, and an actual DVD of Roxy the Movie your destination for the visual component.
