THE TRUE BEQUEST

From Bremen, Germany comes this interesting band, found in 2009 as Pink Mercury with female bassist/singer Jana Frank, female keyboardist/flutist/singer Kaja Fischer, guitarist David Merz and drummer Sascha Barasa Suso.For two years in the row they won the German Rock & Pop award for the best progressive band, while they played live at numerous occasions, even supporting Canadians Saga.With the the help of Eloy's mastermind Frank Bornemann they recorded their debut EP ''The true bequest'' in 2012, around the time they had changed their name to Eyevory.

The result was a refreshing and rich Heavy Progressive Rock, split in straightforward tunes and more elaborate, intricate passages, not very complex, but definitely well-arranged with a very good production.Eyevory's music is based on edgy lead guitars, Hard Rockin' solos and smooth female vocals with a good range, sometimes in dual performances.The atmosphere of the album is quite bombastic and pounding, flirting often with more cinematic/symphonic textures due to the use of airy keyboards and the constant offering of excellent flute interludes.There is a certain comfort of the band to change from easy-listening, punchy rhythmic deliveries to dramatic and delicate instrumental themes.They even added a track sung in Spanish in the menu, sung amazingly by the two female singers with little to recall that this group is actually German.The overall result is close to bands such as EDENSONG, KARNATAKA or MOSTLY AUTUMN, although Eyevory's approach is certainly less ethereal and more powerful.

Depending on this work, that is about 35 minutes long, I can see nothing else than a bright future for this German combo.Their music is absolutely efficient with tremendous songwriting and a fairly good instrumental execution.Strongly recommended, definitely a band to keep an eye on...3.5 stars.
