4 stars (Most of Kate's singles are still missing here...) My relationship with Kate Bush music started with Hounds Of Love cassette in 1985, which was soon followed by many vinyls in a short time. The Whole Story compilation may have been among my first five vinyls altogether in 1986. It included two new tracks, 'Experiment IV' and the new version of 'Wuthering Heights' - both featured in this single.

'Experiment IV' is a very exciting sinister song which had a great video too. The strong beat deliberately has a military vibe, as the song tells of a secret military project to invent a sonic weapon. Gosh, I wish to get it onto CD because it still gives me shivers down the spine. The tight, crisp sound is not far from Hounds Of Love album, wonderfully produced by Kate herself. The song has an amazing feeling of "we are going too far", a sense of danger, but there's a siren-like beauty too. Vocals are faultless. Actually it's among her greatest songs measured by emotional impact.

'Wuthering Heights' 1986 may divide opinions among fans: why modernize her famous breakthrough song? But I appreciate this version too. The difference is very big, both in arrangement (much more kick here than in 1977) and in vocals. Kate seems to give her all, and things almost get too big - and overproduced. But not quite!

12" maxi-single includes also the Christmas song 'December Will Be Magic Again'. Sadly I have never heard it properly, just once from a radio missing the two thirds of the song... It seemed just fine.
