3 stars ' Talking To Maddox" the opening track on Orange Light Years was the hook that made me buy this album. Having really only had experience before with the brilliant ' Aqua' album and also ' Stuntman'. The opening track has everything that I liked about Edgar Froese and Tangerine Dream. Guitar and synth perfectly blended and working together harmoniously. This track is a classic and worth buying the CD for this alone. Other standout tracks are ' Shara Child', more guitar driven electronica. On Cd 2 I would recommend ' Stuntman' from his Stuntman release as well as ' Vault Of The heaven' and ' Traffic of Silence'. Overall though the album comes up short by delivering generally, very bland tracks that wander at times aimlessley ad fade. Too much of the works fall into a " safe" category unlike his earlier works which demonstrated grit and creativity with risk taking in the musical direction Edgar Froese took. Not bad at all but I would have to say this is for completionists only and is good at best. Visit www.edgarfroese.com and listen to ' Talking To Maddox' for a taste of this compilation album but be warned the opener is the highlight piece from twenty six tracks.
