3 stars The cover art (Hieronymus Bosch) is fine, but otherwise I don't much appreciate this compilation. First, there was no information of almost each track being an EXCERPT (nor were there track lengths of course). And I wonder why is the track list printed twice, in two different fonts, on the back cover. Another little silly fault: booklet's back page tells that Disc 1 represents 'The Pink Years 1970-1973' and Disc 2 'The Blue Years 1983-1987', whereas the latter phase actually starts already on the first disc.

The early spacey and sonic experimental material is represented here only in questionably short excerpts. I don't think that a 3-minute fracture of some 20-minute work can give very accurate picture of the music's nature. As there's no discographical information and these CD's aren't even full in lenght, this all seems quite thoughtless. Meanwhile, 80's albums Le Parc and Tyger are given many tracks here. Le Parc, in my opinion, is so poor album that one track would have been enough instead of four. And the way of editing longer tracks a bit shorter looks stupid also on 80's tracks such as 'Songs Of The Whale (from Underwater Sunlight) and 'London', both having their parts one and two in an edited form.

Naturally this compilation serves as an introduction to two different phases of TD, but it could have done it much better too. The included article of TD seems also somehow messy when it comes to discographical information.
