The first TSO Christmas album was actually very good, a lot of different styls, great guitar playing, great vocalists and some great compostions. It made me interested to see them playing it live, that's why I got this dvd.

THIS IS NO LIVE CONCERT

Is it not? What is it then? It is a stupid story about a little girl lost from home with the typical dramatic American way of filming it, combined with the coco-cola-christmastcommercials-like backgrounds. And there are some tracks of TSO played in the background. After the much to long intro the bands does appear on stage. The songs are however the precise albumversion and TSO is playbacking. I'll stop writing here.

Conclusion. One of the worst concepts ever, suitable for little children and low-IQ families. They should have at least shown some live material of the band! One star for this painfull experience, instead try their cd's if you want to give TSO a real change.

TSO's 'The Ghosts of Christmas Eve' is a short but sweet, cheesy by uplifting, 45-minute Christmas movie, which basically plays out like a bunch of music videos thinly strung together by a narrative of a girl who's run away from home and ended up in an abandoned theatre over Christmas. Oh, guess who just happens to be performing in said theatre?

For what it's worth however, this is harmless stuff. If you like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, then there's no reason not to enjoy this. The music is at times epic, powerful and emotional, and the visuals, though dated, are still quite pleasant to watch. It's all done in the name of Christmas spirit, so just enjoy it, and consider it a change of pace from watching Home Alone every year (which you'll still have plenty of time left to do that anyway).
