...Stuart ''Woolly'' Wolstenholme passed away last December 13th, leaving a great hole in all our lives. However, he had previously been over to Spain to add his contributions to the recording process for AD -- Sangreal. One day we were having a day off from the work on the Mandalaband album and I foolishly suggested it would be a nice idea to record a new version of one of my favourite Barclay James Harvest songs from their early years -- ''Galadriel'' -- written and originally sung by John Lees for the album ''Once Again'' (1970). I should have known what would happen! Woolly immediately went into Maestoso mode (i.e. his crazy composer mental state) and began to lay down a complex orchestration that had been swimming around in the darker recesses of his mind for years. He then added a wonderfully plaintiff vocal before we grabbed Craig from his pool-side sun-bathing and hauled him into the studio to lay down the bass guitar. The unfinished track was then saved and forgotten about ... until the sad news of Woolly''s death. The rest of the band decided that they really wanted to finish off the track, each contributing his voice or instrument, so that we could add it to the AD album as a special bonus track.
