LA EMINENCIA INOBJETABLE

Avant Prog Argentinians Las Orejas y la Lengua started from Buenos Aires, reputedly keyboardist Diego Kazmierski was the founding member.The band recorded an album back in 1996, but apparently they were unable to find a contract under a label to release it.In 2002 the new-born Viajero Inmovil Records decided to give the band a chance and, although the line-up was now vastly different, the 1996 album was released under the title ''La eminencia inobjetable''.

The work follows the serious path of RIO/Avant Prog music, where all members contribute rather equally in 13 short tracks, and is filled with a variety of different sounding ideas, ranging from dark and haunting atmospheres to more mellow and elegant pieces, exploring unrelated eras like Chamber Music, Jazz-Rock, traditional Folk, light Symphonic Rock and even a touch of Ambient/Trip-Hop.Reasonable enough the listener tries to figure out a way to follow the listening from the start to the very end, which is quite hard, but all isolated tracks have a good quality with some lovely themes met throughout.You can find pieces with KING CRIMSON- esque heavy guitar blowouts and piano dissonances, tracks with a strong Symphonic/Jazz- Rock flavor ala FOCUS with great electric guitar and flute work, deep Chamber Music moods, pure inharmonic and disturbing guitar/bass-based RIO and even sound effect and drum programming exercises by Kazmierski himself with an evident Trip-Hop vibe.Some cuts are trully magnificent with beautiful interplays and a touch of harmony but the high deegree of difficulty regarding the pieces inbetween prevents the listener from fully enjoying the album.

An album with plenty of decent ideas but a Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde approach, regarding the style of musicianship chosen.Still a pretty enjoyable release, close to the likings of the majority of prog followers.Recommended.
