GENTLE GIANT

The most hard rock of the GENTLE GIANT albums. Progressive hard rock, but definitely hard rock. The guitar sound is near the best ones of hard rock bands of that period: the guitarist is often in the higher notes, showing us that he can make good solos. Drums and bass are quite good and elaborated. The more basic keyboards are less elaborated, maybe more floating, if we can really call it floating. It is obvious here that they did not find their sound and style, but "Isn'it Quiet and Cold?" Really shows us that they took this direction after: this song is less hard rock and has an impressive balanced instruments ensemble: piano, violin, string instruments.
