3 stars The coop between the US band Yawning Man and the UK band Sons Of Alpha Centauri. A truly Transatlantic project in other words.

That is the only similarities between this and the Morse Stolt project. Yawning Sons (what a band name !!) is very much a mix of West Coast rock, space rock, post rock and shoegaze. The emphasis is very much on very atmospheric shoegaze post rock. The band paints big sound pictures which almost smell sea salt and seaweed. This is music from the wide open coastline, made for the wide open coastline.

Most of the music is instrumental with the emphasis on half acoustic guitars, echo pedals and big long tone structures. The guitar tones floats around like ships in the sea. The only true vocal song here, Meadows, also have very good vocals and the structures outlined above. In short; this is modern prog and space rock. Post space rock, is it ? Maybe a good label for this music.

The quality is good throughout. There is no great songs here which really resonates with me. Neither is there anything I find disagreeable here. I am sure this music will find a lot of fans both here on PA and mostly elsewhere. The new dawn is here and is yawning upon us.
