2 stars In the mid-1980s, the major record labels were still trying to get a feel for what would sell on CD. Rather than release a band's catalog, the suits would release compilations and see how they sold. A&M released a series of these "Classics" collections (although some of the original albums had been released outside of the U.S.).

Supertramp's entry, this album, sold fairly well in my store. It is a collection of most of the band's hits, starting from the "Crime Of The Century" album, through their "Brother Where You Bound". The mix is fair, although they still hadn't quite learned how to mix for digital formats. The selection is okay, but the choice to use single edits of most of the songs is a major fault. Plus, they didn't include Even In The Quietest Moments, one of my favorites of Supertramp's hits.

In the 90s the albums were released with better mixes. Skip this one.
