MOTTEN

Klar's debut, Motten, is a deranged mixture of various world musics and psychedelia from different decades, the overall impression being of a band who refuse to be constrained by 'traditional' forms or mainstream views on what an album should sound like. Better tracks include Einleitung, Pise N, Intermezzo and Green White Ghost, but almost everything here is worth hearing, barring maybe the brief Drei Idioten, a druggy 'joke' track. For those who love the instrument, there's real Mellotron to be heard on a few tracks, too. Symphonic prog fans are unlikely to get much out of this, but those into the more psych/space end of things may enjoy it.
