Sancho Panza
4 stars Great stuff, all of the changing time signatures hold your attention. A few of the songs have progressive rock climaxes, like "Tryst and Shout," with a sense of rhythmic buildup and phrasing that makes you want to start moving, but most songs do not have a sense of progressing in one solid direction, whether a buildup or a come down. Some parts are too slow and sparse, which personally saps my energy. A lot of focus on odd rhythms without many unique or memorable moments ("Fuck You and Your Hipster Tie" is a notable exception). A dive in the avant direction from their last album, "A Modest Proposal," which is a bit easier to hold onto and comes highly recommended.
