My introduction to Kanaan and �vestaden, so I don't know what or how each of these bands sound when not collaborating, but this release is very engaging! This is an eclectic mix of progressive rock and psychedelic meanderings infused with folk elements. The male vocals are a bit jarring, but the female vocals are heavenly. The instrumentation is stellar and often sounds like we are in improvisational territory. The instrument collection sounds quite extensive, but no hint of electronica here. The album covers a lot of ground including laid back ballads and some aggressive ramped and amped soloing and jamming. The production seems to be aiming at a more retro soundscape and achieves it.
