3 stars The Dub Room Special was a movie-length concert video Zappa originally put out in 1982, blending footage from his 1981 Halloween show in New York and the 1974 performances that constituted the Token of His Extreme special.

As an audio release, this has ended up becoming rather redundant - if you're seriously enough into Zappa that you're thinking of tracking down something this deep into the weeds, then you're probably enough of a fan to go sniffing around A Token of His Extreme and Halloween 81 - and between those two releases you get everything that's here on an audio perspective. And if you really want The Dub Room Special specifically instead of those audio releases it's probably because you're keen on the visuals - in which case you want the DVD, not the audio-only release!
