PASION, PANICO, LOCURA Y MUERTE

This is one of the few times i've reviewed a Rio / Avant band from South America before Cesar Inca. His reviews are amazing by the way. CAZUELA DE CONDOR are a four piece band from Chile and they've really impressed me with this their debut album. Lots of sax and keyboards and the rhythm section is fantastic. Flute and guitar also shine on this one. Not much in the way of vocals but what we do get are in Spanish, same with all the writing in the liner notes unfortunately for me.

"El Duende Y La Serpiente" has this spacey and haunting intro before the percussion arrives a minute in followed by flute. It kicks in a minute later with sax and a full sound. Man this reminds me of AREA right here. This is so good.Vocals before 5 1/2 minutes as percussion, bass and flute help out. Synths and sax follow as we get a full sound once again. "Sindrome Del Ojo Seco" has this lighter almost "Island" groove to it before the pulsating organ and bass with synths increases the weight considerably. Sax comes and goes. It settles 3 1/2 minutes in with bass,drums and atmosphere. Nice. Sax joins in. "Reptilmamifero" opens with pulsating sounds then it settles in. Vocals after a minute. Piano and flute lead before 2 minutes.Then the guitar starts to rip it up. Flute then leads for a while. "Cuando Lo Cotidiano Se Vuelve Siniestro" opens with spoken words then the music kicks in. Check out the rhythm section with sax after 1 1/2 minutes. Organ follows. An atmospheric calm before 3 minutes. A woman then screams in fear for quite some time. Piano and an uptempo section follows.

"La Pizza( Cazzo Pericolosso)" opens with what sounds like an accordion with piano.The music then kicks in with drums, sax etc. It's heavier after 2 minutes. Spoken vocals 3 minutes in. The tempo picks up before 4 1/2 minutes. "Insomnio" opens with piano. It turns fuller rather quickly with drums and sax joining in.The tempo continues to shift. Violin and sax lead after 2 minutes. Sax only leads 3 minutes in. Violin is back. "Trauma" opens with guitar before sax and chunky bass take over early. Vocals join in and we get some laughter too. Check out the dark rhythm section with guitar before 4 minutes, then the synths join in. Sax after 5 minutes as the rhythm continues. Amazing tune. "Todas Tas Maldieiones" opens with vocals and drums. Organ arrives as it settles. It picks back up with sax. Nice bass after 2 1/2 minutes with drums. Sax is back. "Pasion Y Muerte Del Senor Condor" opens with piano and spoken words.Sax, piano and drums then lead then it picks up 3 minutes in. A funny vocal section follows as it settles back.The tempo continues to shift back and forth. Ripping guitar after 8 minutes.

This is a blast ! An adventerous and enjoyable album that will quench the thirst of any Prog fan out there.
