UNDEVELOPMENTAL ARRESTMENT

Crispy, loosy, and fruity. Such starry words should be fit for "Undevelopmental Arrestment", the latest album by MICROKINGDOM. Of course it's good to know that the creation is filled with their huge flexibility and creativity (and that every single track has a kind of strange title haha). Their opuses always surprise and amaze us, and the one released in the spring of 2022 did not betray us as well. Cool crisps get started from the beginning of the first dash "UA". Flexible loose swings by saxophones are comfortable too. Clearcut and springy drumming and percussion are quite fit for the quirky atmosphere in the song. The combination of free jazz, psychedelic, avantgarde, and electronic drives us into peace of mind. On the other hand, slacky but tight vibes should come through their strict rhythmic bases without any doubt ... one of their impressive points.

"UUAA" gets some uplift. The middle complicated phrases remind us of the similarity to a Japanese rollercoaster rock legend Djamra but 'shirt-sleeve' musical freedom and variance in every single track should be their top priority, let me say. On the contrary, the third "UUUAAA" possesses freakier, lazier aroma all around. Quite surprised at their strong intention never bound by the stereotype called "progressive". The last moody encouragement sounds like they claim great unwavering confidence in their soundscape.

Suddenly the stereotype is broken up again in the beginning of "UUUUAAAA", that gives a shot of melodic, rhythmic complication. The blend of instruments is completely out of harmony. Such a dissonance is our love. It's pretty enjoyable to hear the song goes forward in dry, hazy, fuzzy, funny chaos. Another charm can be found the song involves punksy hints via improvisational saxophone playings and synthesizer-oriented tips. In the last track "UUUUUAAAAA" we are likely to get deceived by acceptable beautiful melody symmetries in the beginning of this song. But the neat smart beats in the middle part are very delicious. The latter quiet relaxing flavour produced by saxophones, percussion, synthesizers or guitars gives us another explosive expectation.
