ANIMALS AS LEADERS

Animals As Leaders debut album is rare pleasant surprise for me in the field of post- rock. It doesn't meant that there are no great musicians or good albums there, but it just means that the quantity of below average products on this field is extremely high. This album is different.

First of all, it isn't too heavy for me to be placed on post-metal territory and sounds more as typical US post rock (which as rule are always more heavy and more rock -oriented than European). Music is technically strong, melodic and interesting in breaks, rhythms and sound effects. It's a first of many post-rock albums I listened during last time , which caught me from very beginning and took me till the end. Very interesting guitar, acoustic melodic pieces, complex drumming - there are all main good album elements. Sounds really attractive, especially for debut of one-man band!

Recommended as one of better examples of modern post-rock/post-metal.
