MINDS IN DEEP NEUTRAL

It sounds like a Baltimore-based combo MICROKINGDOM would have shifted their musical style into psychic electronic in this cassette album. Such a change or transition of soundscape must induce them to be progressive despite the fact there are lots of so-called progressive rock combos namely imitations. Meanwhile, I'm afraid the audience who love their early days could stick on them.

"Iceboat" possesses weird but attractive inorganic chemistry full of bubbling tenderness and dissonant fragility. As if we were broken from the inside under such a serious situation, the sound dissection goes forward slowly and steadily. We can enjoy a chilling atmosphere like the title "Iceboat" that should be fragile and melty. On the other hand "Clowny Skies" featuring brilliant glassy phenomena reminds us of a sort of similar vein to hoax electronika just like Mittelwinternacht '71. Wondering what 'Clowny' means, and guessing we see the kaleidoscopic variable skies like on a stormy day. They would have launched a kind of tough appearance under the current state. And in the following "Party Boat" we can get veiled in a mysterious ecstasy produced by mystic sound collective. Cannot imagine via their previous opus "Three Compositions Of No Jazz". Crazy hightone synthesizer sounds like female voices are crazy impressive really. The last "Stiff Peaks" is a return-back of hoax sound. Their sound discharge is stiff and excessive, to give us the maturity of the chaotic, confusing world. Too hard for us to digest out obviously, but their energetic expression is fascinating, it's true.

All in all, this creation is not bad, but I'm wondering where they will end up and what the fans think. There would be pros and cons around them. I love this album though.
