An album of covers, if the artist chosen is a great name, can be a risk, but if it's arranged and played well
enough it can't be bad. In the end you have a number of very strong and well known songs, so unless they are
ruined by a bad arrangement it will result in a successful operation.In this case, we have a chamber quartet like Quintorigo that, after having changed a number of excellent singers and songwriters have given up to search for a new one and rely on guests. I think it's significant that after having released an album of covers of Charlie Mingus, now they have Eric Mingus, his son, as singer on the majority of the tracks. Add to this that no guitars are fetured in this album. The American anthem in Woodstock's style is made by Gionata Costa with a distorted cello, just as example. So being mainly a quartet made of Cello, Violin, Sax and Double Bass makes the operation even more interesting. In particular, the covers that I prefer, which by coincidence are also my favorite Hendrix songs are Foxy Lady, Purple Haze, Angel and Voodoo Child. I'm sure that Jimi would have liked it.
