3 stars Blakulla is an obscure heavy prog band from Sweden formed around 1971 and surviving only 4 years before disbanding in late 1975. They release only one album in 1975 selfititled and reissued on CD by APM - Ad Perpetuam Memoriam with 3 bonus tracks from 1974. Great heavy prog very much in same vein with Uriah Heep same period among others or with their country fellows Rag i Ryggen, with symphonic touches a la Yes , etc . Vocals sung in swedish give a good atmosphere and that special nordic feel of the album. I like the guitar how easy is used in combination with the keyboards. The progressive sound developed by the band is more then ok, even some harder elements are added here and there, but the main style is heavy prog really great performed. Great hammond, the instrumental sections are more then ok. All in all a very worthy re issue, fans of heavy prog will enjoy this one a lot, one of the forgotten bands from Sweden that for sure needed more attention. For fans of Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash in parts, Birth Control same period, etc. They disbanded in 1975. 3.5 stars for sure
