CONVERSATIONS IN D-MINOR

Most inspiring psychedelic free rock echoes from Houston. This band with guitar duo and the usual rhythm section line-up certainly did not "have a problem" to be reported for flight control. The log markings from their spontaneous rocket flight is captured to these "Conversations in D-minor". The spontaneity is assured due quick recordings from one quick session, similarly as on My Brother The Wind's debut album. Its four sonic discussions visit planes of heavier rock dronings, maybe comparable to sounds of groups Earthless and Mammatus. These aural debates start sharply without hesitation on "Taxodium", and from the basic pulsings of group's shared unconsciousness, solid shapes start to get materialized. Guitarists shift their shared roles, distorted rhythm axe staying on balanced cruise, other varying approaching styles from effect-treated sound decorations, vigorous smashings and to vintage roaring solo licks. Though tempo stays quite steady, there are tamer moments for bass player's and drummer's jazzy movements. The end of the first discussion really reveals the players control, reaching the stop with admirable skill and focus. Second "Hard Drive Explosion" injects some paralyzing sludge blues with spacey atmospherics to the ears, and instead of overdosing, the group thinners their boost for great guitar solo over star shimmering skies. From this doped night "Toad Patrol" kicks out the jams for a really epic half-hour exploration on musical realms in vein of Tia Carrera's "Saturn Missile Battery" rushing. This blast certainly allows a relieving hippie-aggression catharsis during its musical straits. This pathway to enlightenment takes turns both to more serene moments of contemplation and faster plunges in haze of acid rock chaos, being a certain highlight on this wonderful display of heavy psych musical concentration and virtuosity. Controlled mutual pauses and imagination on pickings, massed rhythmings and individual leads prove much of Brandon's, Beau's, Billy's and Brendon's intuitive connection, collective devotion and shared aesthetic goals. Final "Brassica" mantras on orientalist cycles of sanctity, growing the dominant distorted guitar assaults from the Holy Square of these professional musicians aural meditation. Thus I consider this records being a most recommendable album for anybody open to fine quality improvised acid art rock with heavier guitar tones.
