COLD SUMMER

'Cold Summer' is similar in many ways to Thomas Köner, in that it's a beatless mournful recording with only the sounds of subdued synths to be heard. It is however a beautiful piece of music from beginning to end, there are no traces of the Dub-beat 'Scorn' or any remnants of his original metal band 'Napalm Death'. Instead what you get here is a very alien landscape which should not be listened to until 1.00am.

Like 'Lustmord' but less threatening and more ambient. It's almost like listening to a bowling ball in slow motion running towards skittles. Some pretty little whistles keep me intrigued throughout this 25 minute opener. The whole album sounds like floating ghosts in an alien landscape. Almost like leaves dropping in slow motion from an Autumnal tree.

'Cold Summer' is by far the best album by Lull being the creepiest and most chilling album they recorded. Fans of Tangerine Dream's 'Zeit' would be advised to seek this out.

'Long Way Home' has beautiful chiming bells mixed and mashed to oblivion as a deeply ominous bass sweeps in the foreground. An almost deafening sub-deep bass runs rampant before being barely audible in the next track. This is the classic example of the genre known as 'Isolationism' and this recording has that inherent all consuming darkness.
