Atem biography

ATEM is an extreme progressive metal band based out of Kami, Finland. Initially formed in 1995 under the moniker of MORGUE, they began their musical career as a death metal band with black metal influences, releasing their first demo in 1999. In that same year, founding guitarist Petri Lackman left the group and the bnd changed their name to ATEM. Under this new name, the band released numerous demos and in 2005 they released their first EP "Pedon Laulu". The band's sound evolved through the years, with influences of progressive rock creeping into their sound as the harshness of their delivery tempered while remaining clearly within the extreme metal spectrum. By the time the band released their first full length album "Nouse Kauas Pimeyteen" in 2015, the progressive rock influences of their sound had magnified to a major aspect of their overall style with vocals delivered often in a smooth clean fashion, which in turn offers a strong contrast to the more powerful and harsh musical and vocal passages in their music.

The current roster includes Eetu HEIKKINEN on bass, Pentti PENTTILA on drums, Henri MAKI-JOKELA and Olli HEIKKINEN on guitars, Joona HILTUNEN on keyboards and Antti KALASNIEMI on vocals.
